About
The Architect Africa Film Festival celebrates architecture and brings audiences face to face with the realities and possibilities of urban living and the built environment. This event is an exciting cultural platform that informs, inspires and entertains.
For the duration of three weeks, the Architect Africa Film Festival travels to Johannesburg, Durban, Cape Town, Bloemfontein and Port Elizabeth where up to 25 international and local films featuring the built environment are screened to the public at central cinema complexes. This becomes the core event around which many additional activities take place, including two student competitions – the Tripod Architecture Photography Competition and the Moving Spaces Film Competition.
The Festival provides an inspirational event that promotes the built environment professions; provides a platform for debate and communication among built environment professionals; provides a cultural tool for capacity building and education; and creates a broader public awareness of architecture, planning and design.
The festival is hosted every two years - the next one is scheduled for 2012.
